Bakałowicz Władysław

Bakałowicz, Władysław (ur. 1833 Chrzanów, zm. 1903 Paris).
Władysław Bakałowicz after graduating from the Warsaw School of Fine Arts (in years 1849-1854) he left in 1863 r. to France and settled permanently in Paris. He participated in the Paris Salons, obtaining several decorations and awards. He also exhibited in Brussels, Berlin, Vienna, London and New York and many times in the country – in Warsaw, Krakow and Lviv. In the early period of his artistic career, he painted city views, landscapes, genre scenes and pictures from the history of Poland. In Paris, however, he gained recognition and popularity mainly due to scenes from the history of France, as well as intimate salon compositions with beautiful women in the rich, historic interiors.
