Bartoszek Franciszek

Bartoszek, Francis (ur. 1910 Pieranie, zm. 1943 Warsaw (he died in combat action))
Painter, member of the grouping Czapka Phrygijska. He studied art at the SSP and the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in. 1930-35 under the direction of T.. Pruszkowski and F. Kowarski. During his studies, he became a member of the Socialist Youth Organization “Life”. He was one of the founders of the Warsaw Artists Group Czapka Frygijska, with whom he exhibited in 1936-37. During this period, he also participated in IPS salons. W 1937 he worked as a trainee at the National Museum in Warsaw. W 1938 received a scholarship from the Academy of Fine Arts and went to France and Italy. He also dealt with art criticism and popularization of art, cooperating with the magazine “Arkady”. During the war, he stayed briefly in Volhynia, later he lived in Jasło. From 1942 he acted in Warsaw as the deputy commander, and then the commander of the special group of the General Staff of GL. He practiced oil painting, watercolor and drawing. He painted city motifs, landscapes and figural compositions, in which he was particularly interested in the subject of the work. The formal side of his works was subordinated to the conveyed content and represented broadly understood realism.
