Chlebowski, Stanisław (ur. 1835 Punisher (Podolia), zm. 1884 Kowanówek near. Poznan).
He learned drawing in Odessa with A. Wicherski and R. Chojnacki. W 1853-59 studied at the St. Petersburg Academy, and then in Paris with J.L. Gerome. He was visiting Spain, Italy, Germany, Belgium. W 1864-76 he was the court painter of the Sultan Abduleziz in Constantinople. W 1876 moved to Paris. He returned permanently to Krakow in 1881. He painted historical scenes, battle, he practiced genre painting, especially on oriental subjects.
