Tchaikovsky, Joseph

Józef Czajkowski (ur. 1872 Warsaw, zm. 1947 Warsaw).
The brother of the painter Stanisław. He studied in Munich (1891-94) u J. and L. Herterich and K. Marr, in Paris at the Academie Julian, u J.Mac Neil Whistlera, at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Vienna, in the Krakow SSP (1894-95) and at K. Stryjeński. He was a member of the Society “Piece”, one of the founders of the Society “Polish Applied Arts”, member “Krakow Workshops” and artists' cooperatives “Order”. He has lectured since 1919 applied arts and painting in Vilnius at the University, from 1922 in the SSP in Warsaw. Above all, he practiced applied arts with great success, he was also an architect. He mainly painted landscapes.
