Czechowicz, Simon (ur. 1689 Cracow, zm. 1775 Warsaw).
Born in a family of goldsmiths, found a protector in the person of F.M. Ossoliński. Thanks to him, for approx. 1711 he stayed and studied in Rome, where he was in the circle of students and followers of C.. Maratty. W 1731 he returned to the country. His religious paintings and portraits commissioned by Polish magnates and churches are known. Stylistically, it represented the late Baroque, however, he operated sensitively with color, knew how to construct images and achieve graceful effects. He was a teacher of many painters.
