He was also an active ZZPAP activist (and later ZPAP), he belonged to the Formists in 1918-22, for several years he was a member of the group Plastyka, he also exhibited with Avant-Garde, Unicorn and New Generation. To year 1916 his work was dominated by the influences of French Impressionist and Post-Impressionist painting. The formist phase followed, which in Dołżycki characterized by a synthetic and dynamic form, often outlined with a strong contour, a narrow range of colors and a strong expression. During this period, an important place in the artist's work was occupied by graphics showing clear analogies with his painting of that time. The turn of the twenties and thirties brought an extension of the subject matter, often landscape and sports motifs with a compact structure, simplified colors and varied texture. About 1934 Dołżycki turned to issues of color, color analysis, keeping, however, the compositional discipline gained in the Formist period. He also dealt with set design. In years 1919-29 he collaborated with the Grand Theater in Poznań, designing decorations for performances such as Madame Butterfly, The Queen of Spades, Pajace, Aida if The Barber of Seville.
