Gotlib, Henry (ur. 1890 Cracow, zm. 1966 South Godstone (Anglia)).
Painter, chart, journalist and art critic, member of the Formists group, Zwornik, Circle of Polish Artists oraz London Group. In years 1908-10 studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków under the supervision of W.. Weiss, then in Munich, where he exhibited in 1915. Later he stayed in Paris, he participated in the Salons there. After the First World War, which he had already lived in the country, he became involved with the Formists, with whom he exhibited in the l. 1920-22. W 1922 he left the country again for Italy and England. However, he often stayed longer in Poland and was associated with the Krakow Group, collaborated with the Cricot theater, he exhibited with Zwornik and the Group of Ten, he edited “The Voice of the Artists”, he wrote in “Wiadomości Literackie”. W 1939 Finally he said goodbye to his country and settled in England. During the war years he wrote and published a book there Polish painting. He was also an author The Painter's Wandering, volume published in Warsaw in 1947 r. At the beginning of his work, Gotlib constantly experimented, he was looking for new solutions. Over time, color became the main element in building the image for him, which he considered to be properly constructed at the time, when the colors were combined and contrasted like this, to obtain the effect closest to the artist's original feeling of nature. He painted his still lifes, landscapes, nudes and portraits with vast splashes of paint, from which he tries to get as much light as possible.
