Hrynkovsky Jan (ur. 1891 Lviv, zm. 1971 Cracow).
Painter, chart, scenographer, member of the Formists and Jednoróg groups. He studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków with J.. Pankiewicz and a sculpture by K.. Laszczka. W l. 1921-22 complemented his studies in decorative painting at the Paris Loth Academy. From 1913 he took an active part in the artistic life of Krakow: he was one of the founders of formism, co-founder of the Krakow Union of Artists and its long-term president, he worked as a set designer at the Teatr im. Słowacki (after the war also in Katowice theaters), participated in numerous exhibitions, he also presented his works at individual shows (m.i.n 1946, 1948, 1960). Hrynkowski's artistic legacy is numerous and varied, yes, in terms of the painting and graphic techniques used, as well as in terms of the subject. The paintings present a wealth of ideas and the freedom of artistic solutions, combining a realistic view of the world with formal interests. The most interesting are landscapes and still lifes, in which, after his Formist experiences, the artist's peculiar colorism and his individual painting style came to the fore. The composition of these works is subordinated to color systems, the landscapes are dominated by a bright yellow-green range, in still lifes, color combinations are richer, saturated, often contrasting.
