Mehoffer Józef

Mehoffer Józef (ur. 1869 Ropczyce, zm. 1946 Wadowice).
Józef Mehoffer b. 19.03.1869 r. in Ropczyce, zm. 08.07.1946 r. in Wadowice. After graduating from St.. Anna in Krakow, he studied at the local School of Fine Arts under the supervision of W.. Łuszczkiewicz and J. Matejko (1887-89). At the same time, he was a law student at the Jagiellonian University. In years 1889-90 studied at the Vienna Academy, and then (1891-96) W Paryżu W Colarossi Academy i School of Fine Arts u L. Bonnata. W 1900 became an associate professor, a w 1902 professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, whose rector was in 1914-18 i 1932-33. He was a founding member of the Society of Polish Artists “Piece”, A member of the Society of Krakow History and Monuments Lovers, he also participated in the activities of the Society “Polish Applied Arts”. W 1931 r. took over the management of the conservation of stained glass windows in St. Mary's Church in Krakow. The first collective exhibition of the artist's works was held in 1913 r. at TZSP in Warsaw. The next ones were organized in the TZSP (1935) – jubilee, in Krakow's TPSP (1938) – “Józef Mehoffer and his students” and also in 1945.
Beside oil painting, the most important area of ​​his work was stained glass and polychrome.
